Jarden has strengthened its commodities business with the appointment of Daniel Tetro as Head of Energy, Institutional Commodities, to lead the expansion of its capabilities in the New Zealand power market.

With the addition of Tetro, Jarden is positioned to build one of the most comprehensive commodities franchises across Australasia, supporting clients across the full spectrum of New Zealand’s evolving commodity markets.

Jarden has been a leading participant in the NZX dairy futures market since its foundation and has built its carbon business alongside New Zealand’s carbon trading market since inception, making the firm the first call for many clients navigating those markets. The appointment of Tetro adds power, completing the firm’s three-pillar commodities strategy.
The appointment comes as New Zealand’s power market enters a period of significant change, with electricity demand forecast to rise by up to 65% by 2050 on the back of industrial electrification and data centre growth, and the wholesale market facing growing price volatility as domestic gas supply declines.
Tetro rejoins Jarden from Marex, where he was Director, Commodities and Environmental Products, having previously spent time at the firm and, before that, at OM Financial. He will be based in Auckland.
